Lead Content Editor – Axonn Media

A senior member of the team, I manage and produce online editorial for a number of high profile, complex and challenging clients, delivering a variety of content – news, blogs, whitepapers features, thought leadership pieces – to a high journalistic standard on a daily basis.

Other responsibilities include monitoring and assessing writing as a member of the editorial compliance team, interviewing new candidates and training staff.

Freelance Journalist and Media Professional – Self-employed

September 2008 – Present | UK

Sessional journalism and media lecturer for a year at Darlington College. Made sure I delivered a creative, inclusive and differentiated learning experience (Sept 2010 – July 2011).

Particular achievements include producing a short documentary with young people on their experience of Auschwitz; helping young people come up with a political literacy document; writing a music column; and creating a comic with children.

Other highlights include working with the then mayor of North Tyneside as part of his re-election campaign team. Helped shape narrative, produced various copy, worked on speeches and addresses, advised on media strategies and designed promotional material (April – June 2009).

Managed two major research projects (charity and council). Delivered consultations, networked with stakeholders, piloted methods, assessed data and wrote up both reports (2008-2009).

I have produced articles for Dazed Digital, Asians in Media, Lifestyle Magazine, Neon Magazine, Pickled Politics, Isolationist, Liberal Conspiracy and Narc Magazine.

Press and Marketing Officer – Oxfam

As part of the marketing team, I collaborated on various media campaigns in print and online, helping promote events in an engaging way. I contributed to strategy, managed press contacts, distributed and designed press releases, organised and conducted interviews with bands, engaged with audiences, colleagues and musicians through social networks like Twitter and Facebook, and produced editorial across WordPress and Tumblr.

Spent one academic year as a professional tutor at Darlington College, lecturing in journalism and media.

Responsibilities included delivering a creative, inclusive, differentiated and productive learning experience.

Music columnist – Lifestyle Magazine

I wrote a punchy, progressive, and opinionated music column that monitored trends, provided an alternative slant on things, and offered an engaging read into all things music-related.

Journalist & Outreach Worker – Headliners

June 2007 – September 2008 | Newcastle

Managed, designed and delivered an accredited journalism programme aimed at engaging young people from target groups.

In collaboration with young people, produced news stories using print and video.
Part of my job involved liaising and networking with various organisations, promoting Headliners, and publishing content.

Establish the charity as one of the leading youth media organisations in the North East.
